YOUNG LOVE: Too Young to Fight it

On its debut album, Too Young To Fight It, Young Love delivers a spunky electro-pop-rock debut. While comparisons to other electro-fused rock bands are inevitable, Young Love’s sound is like a Fall Out Boy record injected with a dose of pop. On the lead single and album opener “Discotech,” frontman Dan Keyes croons about finding love in the club over a frenetic beat laced with electric guitar. Another standout, and perhaps the most well known track on the album due to its use in the opening credits for MTV’s Dancelife, is “Find A New Way.” Despite the semi-corny lyrics, it’s hard not to enjoy the glittering beeps and catchy riffs that compose the track. The album closes with “Close Your Eyes,” a mid-tempo, acoustic guitar ridden song showing Keyes’ versatility as a producer and musician. While Young Love’s debut is far from groundbreaking, it is hard to fight enjoying this fizzing pop debut. Grade: A-
