Man survives five-story fall after hotel fire

The following reports are taken from the Allston-Brighton District 14 weekly crime logs.

A man was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital Sunday night after jumping out of the window of his fifth floor room to escape a fire at the Days Hotel at 1234 Soldiers Field Rd.

The on-duty manager reportedly heard the smoke alarm at about 8:50 p.m. and saw smoke coming out of a room on the fifth floor. After allegedly failing to kick down the door, the manager proceeded to evacuate all the guests located in surrounding rooms.

According to reports, the fire was contained in that room and its adjoining room. Police estimate damages to be between $50,000 and $60,000.

The current health status of the victim, Paul Michael King, 32, is unknown. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Police are still searching for a man involved in an assault and battery that occurred Thursday morning at the Model Cafe at 7 North Beacon St.

According to reports, a man was playing pool at the bar when the suspect became agitated and punched him repeatedly on the left side of the head. The suspect allegedly left the bar immediately after the incident.

The identity of the suspect is unknown.

IT’S ALL ABOUT A BENJAMIN

A man stole approximately $100 from a Quality Market at 150 North Beacon St. Thursday night around 11 p.m.

The suspect allegedly entered the store and jumped over the counter to the cash register. With a knife in his right hand, he reportedly opened the register and stole money before fleeing the store in the direction of Market Street.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

HAVE A DYE PACK

Citizens Bank at 35 Washington St. reported $600 stolen Thursday at around 3:30 p.m.

According to reports, a man entered the bank and handed a teller a note that allegedly read, “I have a gun. Don’t make me use it. Give me all your money.”

The suspect reportedly threw the dye pack the teller gave him back at him and exited the bank headed in an unknown direction.

The identity of the suspect is unknown.

Police are still searching for two men who allegedly robbed a person in front of 35 Fidelis Way in Brighton about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The suspects allegedly confronted the victims and told the first suspect victim to “take your hands out of your pocket.” The second suspect reportedly knocked the victim unconscious by punching him on the side of his face. According to reports, the suspects fled the scene in a black SUV driven by a woman.

The suspects stole the victim’s coat and an unknown amount of change from his pocket.

THIS IS A CAR, JACK

Two men car-jacked a vehicle parked in front of 1399 Commonwealth Ave. Friday at around 2:20 a.m.

According to reports, one suspect approached the car and held a handgun to the driver’s head. The suspect allegedly forced the victim out of the car and sped away with an accomplice down Commonwealth Avenue, turning left on Kelton Street.

The stolen vehicle was a 2001 gray Honda Civic.

Police have not yet apprehended the suspect or his accomplice. They are believed to be from Lawrence.

30 BUCKS?

Two teenagers were allegedly robbed by two acquaintances armed with a knife, Wednesday at around 6 p.m.

The suspects reportedly grabbed the victims and one suspect said, “Shut up and give me the money, or I’ll stab you.” The suspect reportedly ordered his accomplice, holding an object in his pocket which the victims believed was a knife, to stab the victims.

The 16- and 14-year-old suspects fled up Commonwealth Avenue with about $30 stolen from the victims.

The suspects have not yet been apprehended. Police have notified juvenile court of the report.

DIG THAT CAB

A passenger attacked a cab driver with a wine bottle Sunday at around 2:25 a.m.

The suspect allegedly tried to enter the driver’s side of the vehicle and assaulted the driver with a wine bottle before breaking the front passenger side window.

According to reports, the suspect fled in the cab on Cambridge Street with two other passengers.

The police are still searching for the suspect.
