BU alum runs Boston Marathon to fund 3D prosthetic printer for Ukrainian hospital

Mariia Yelizarova was a sophomore at Boston University when she crossed the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon, the site of a bombing that left three dead and more than 200 injured. Thirteen years later, she plans to run the marathon again — only now, her finish line will be at a hospital in Lviv, Ukraine.

While on tour in Los Angeles, Aidan Close and his agent took the opportunity to meet and talk with a casting director. Within the 15 minutes it took him to get home from the meeting, he got an email from his agent. Close, a Boston University alum who at the time was playing Scorpius Malfoy in the North American tour of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” was offered the chance to continue playing Scorpius on Broadway.

Lutchen, who is currently the senior advisor to President Gilliam, was recognized as an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow for his achievement and advancement in respiratory mechanics.
