Boston University experienced a spike in the on-campus positive test rate for COVID-19, as students, faculty and staff prepare for their return to campus after the holidays.
Students living at 1047 Commonwealth Avenue — a building BU is currently using as quarantine housing — woke up to the sound of the fire alarm around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
With the presidential election just weeks away, BU students hoping to vote while in quarantine or isolation housing might face added hurdles. Mail is not as easy to recieve when the University must reduce contact between these students and the rest of campus.
Past the obvious mental toll, social barrier and learning limitation that would place any perfectly healthy and stable person in a state of distress, the conditions of isolation can pose real threats to individuals who specifically suffer from mental health issues relating to food.
Boston University currently holds around 20 students in designated isolation housing, which is reserved for those on campus who have tested positive for COVID-19. And this sophomore is among them.
