- What’s your favorite type of music?
I’d have to go with R&B.
- What’s the best concert you have been to?
(Laughing) I’m not a concert guy.
- What’s your favorite song?
“Man in the Mirror.” That’s one of my favorites.
- Do you play an instrument?
No, I wish I did.
- What do you wish you played?
I’ve always wanted to played the drums.
- Who is your favorite musician?
I’m going to have to say Michael Jackson. Marvin Gaye I really like, too.
- Who on the team has a good taste in music?
(Laughing) I wouldn’t know that. They play music during practice sometimes and I just cringe.
- Who is your biggest influence?
My dad. He was just a great person. Very consistent person with high morals, someone I learned a lot from in terms of work ethic. He was just a really hardworking guy.
- What’s your favorite memory at BU so far?
Winning the regular season Patriot League title at Holy Cross in 2014.
- Who is your favorite coach of all time?
Pat Riley.
- Who is your favorite player of all time?
Magic Johnson.
- Why Magic?
He was a great teammate. He made other guys better. He got better
as his career went on and was just a phenomenal all-around play and a winner.
- What do you miss most about your playing days?
My teammates. I miss being around them and competing. Coaching helps, but it’s not the same.
- Favorite player to mess around with on the team this year?
They’re all pretty funny in their own way. It’s a real enjoyable group to be around.
- What do you like about BU?
The people. I love the people. Our department and student-athletes are the thing I love most about the school.
- What do you value most?
My family. That’s what I value most. My wife and my kids.
- Favorite place to eat on campus?
Scoozi, if that counts as on campus.
- What was it like coaching under Jay Wright at Hofstra University and Villanova University?
It was phenomenal. It was life-changing and inspirational. I learned a ton about life and how to treat people. It was more about those things then it was about basketball, even though I learned a ton about basketball as well.
- What player has taught you the most?
John Baumann at Columbia University. He was someone that truly dedicated himself to improving. He was our hardest worker, he was a phenomenal person, a tremendous teammate and whatever you said, he did. That’s kind of what I’m looking for when I’m looking for players.
- Your team is currently tied for second place in the Patriot League. How successful do you think this team could be?
I just feel like we have not hit our stride yet. I think this team has the opportunity to play its best basketball in the next couple of weeks and that’s what we’re trying to do. I told the guys it’s not just about how to win every game, but it’s how to improve each and every time we go on the floor, and that’s what our goal is every time we go on the floor.
