For all of us who hold a camera with trembling hands and a story in our hearts, the rising prominence of indie films and the support of groundbreaking production companies underscore that making a difference, one heartfelt story at a time, is not just possible but essential.
One of my favorite holiday movies to this day remains “Home Alone.” There is something about having no one else in the house, putting up all the holiday decorations that are stuffed in the attic, walking around town donning scarves and mittens and, of course, dancing to blasted music in the bathroom.
Traditions anchor emotions in the arbitrary nature of time. They keep us connected and serve as a comfortable continuity across years, changes and age. My grandmother was something of an anchor herself within my family. She was always a centric presence during my childhood and, truthfully, a centric presence to almost everyone she encountered.
Gen Z’s and millennials’ attention spans are so fried, it’s become a joke on social media to put a Subway Surfers stream on the screen split with another piece of content.
I don’t have the answer to every situationship or romance qualm. I couldn’t tell you how to rebound perfectly after a breakup, or how to win over the person of your dreams. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand how love works, or what it feels like. I think the harder part is finding a way to aptly put this multifaceted emotion into written words.
For viewers of crime genres, these shows provide eerie, intense and thrilling feelings that are all too familiar. With the assistance of streaming platforms, obsessively binge-viewing these series’ becomes extremely convenient. It’s this convenience that pulled me into the world of cable crime television, and keeping away has proved to be a challenge of its own.
One of the most important things I have learned thus far from my breakup is how important respect is. Going forward, it is one of my top priorities —both for myself and my relationships.

Macarons are seemingly a top choice in French bakeries, probably because they go great with hot black tea or coffee. So why not make them a staple for autumn and winter?
If Past Me saw Present Me I think she’d think I’m pretty cool. I think it would make her write in her little journal something similar to this piece, about the college version of herself that she is looking forward to becoming. But she’d definitely think the reading thing is crazy. She wasn’t much of a reader. But she did like to write. “She” being me. I liked to write. And I still do.
