Boston’s City Council voted on March 12 to officially designate the city as a sanctuary for transgender individuals and the wider LGBTQ+ community. Out of 13 councilor members, Councilor Ed Flynn was alone in voting “no” in the 12-1 decision, raising concerns among Boston residents.

Massachusetts voters turned out on Election Day, motivated by historic stakes and issues in party loyalty, women’s rights and the candidates’ character.
To all of the suburbia natives trying to find your footing in Boston, you may need some guidance on where to get good grub. You’re probably looking to impress the family when they visit for parents’ weekend and show them that you’ve found your way in city living — and there's nothing like an awe-inspiring meal to do just that.
Many LGBTQ+ students say the heteronormative, non-diverse — and, at times, dangerous — nightlife scene in cities such as Boston has made it challenging for them to have enjoyable and safe experiences going out. However, in the wake of new queer nightlife opening in Boston — such as Dani’s Queer Bar in Back Bay — some of BU’s LGBTQ+ students have found better experiences within the queer nightlife scene.
The latest affordable housing effort in Back Bay, approved by the city of Boston last month, created 210 affordable apartments in the area, 111 of which were designated for people formerly unhoused.
"Every little bit we do contributes to not just our bodies, but the planet that we all share as well," said Live Alive Cafe CEO Bryan Timko. Live Alive is one of the many businesses around BU's campus that promote sustainable city-life.
