For almost three weeks now, I haven’t had my daily coffee. And sure, I miss walking to class with a fall-themed latte in hand or having something cold to sip on while I do my never-ending homework. But the dull caffeine withdrawal headaches I used to get weren’t the only thing that I noticed changed for the better. Suddenly, I’m saving time in the morning, drinking more water and spending a lot less money.
I guess I’ve won the lottery if I’m anything like that — she is undeniably epic. She’s a hard worker with a great sense of humor. She’s loving, kind and has inspired me to become the woman that I am today.

This is my favorite part of any city day — leaning back in your seat and watching the world pass by through the train window. Bonus points if the sun is setting as it's the perfect way to wrap up the day.

There’s no way to adequately describe the pure bliss of sipping a Cuban coffee. You’ve just got to try it. My first sip was at this little mom and pop shop just around the corner from Enrique’s place. The sweet, old couple that ran it stood behind the counter catching up with Enrique in Spanish. The old man handed Enrique a styrofoam cup of liquid and four tiny, empty cups for sharing. Enrique thanked him, calling him “Campeón” as he walked to meet us at the table that my parents and I had grabbed in the corner.
The pieces of Dunkin’ that out-of-towners might think help it maintain its popularity are often misinformed hypotheses. It is not the intense sugar-rush that their syrups provide, nor is it the way they keep us on our toes as we gamble whether the first sip will be sweet, sweet paradise or like licking the butt of a cigarette. Coffee is not only for my 8 a.m., it’s for everyday classes and even the weekends. I may have pretended to be the lady boss walking down Commonwealth Ave. holding a Starbucks cup, and that’s when I knew coffee was a lifestyle — a quite expensive one.
Some people join clubs, others join frats and sororities — all of which are great ways to find community and a sense of belonging. But for me, something about working with the same people every week for a semester, and then getting to meet new ones as the schedule changes every semester is the best kind of instant connection made.
