Learning to be alone isn’t easy, and it feels even harder during a holiday dedicated to love. But love isn’t only romantic — it deserves to be celebrated in all its forms.
When I was growing up, my parents would tell me that boyfriends would come and go, but friends would last forever.
Now that I’m older, I don’t entirely agree with that statement. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, or maybe it’s because I’ve had my fair share of bad friends.
So, I’d modify their advice slightly: When you find the right people, true friendship can be the most incredible thing.
The saying goes, “Make new friends, but keep the old.” This adage encapsulates the essence of friendship and how maintaining old bonds are just as important as creating new friendships. But, maintaining old bonds from home and creating new ones in college are different experiences that require different care.
