Boston University Students for Justice in Palestine hosted a walkout Friday at Marsh Plaza featuring faculty and staff who support justice in Palestine to cap off its “Liberation Week” demonstrations.
Community leaders are preparing to preserve Boston’s immigrant and international student populations as the incoming Trump administration warns of a national immigration crackdown.
Boston University Students for Justice in Palestine hosted a memorial event where members wrote the names of the more than 41,000 people killed in Gaza this past year since the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
Susan Akram, director of the International Human Rights Clinic at the Boston University School of Law, said she saw generational trauma firsthand. Akram started teaching at BU in 1993, where she now supervises students representing international non-governmental organizations at the International Human Rights Clinic, IHRC.

Biden's strong pro-Israel stance on the most recent conflict, which stands in stark contrast with most of the rest of the world including the U.S.'s biggest rivals Russia and China, is reminiscent of the Cold War era proxy-wars and could even threaten the beginning of World War III.
200 students attended Boston University Students for Justice in Palestine solidarity vigil at the BU Beach Wednesday night with Palestinian flags, flowers and candles, in response to Israel’s deadly retaliatory strikes on Gaza.
This past week, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian women’s rights advocate and human rights activist. Mohammadi has been an outspoken critic of the Iranian government’s record on human rights — particularly those of women — and has sacrificed her freedom to fight for the freedom of others. She receives the Prize from prison, where she is incarcerated for her activism.
In ignoring the racial identity of MENA people, we are effectively ignoring their stories, voices, culture, value, humanity, vast contributions to American society and all that they have endured at the expense of white supremacy.
Boston University School of Law opened the Quiet Meditation and Prayer Space in room 509 of their building on March 22, which was originally a small, reserved study space.
