The summer that I need: a review of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ finale

By Nino Machavariani, Associate Lifestyle Editor September 19, 2025
Even as I write this, not even 24 hours after watching the episode, I still feel the electricity. This final episode truly is the end of an era. How else am I going to live out my dreams of finding a Fisher boy now? Sigh. The Bonrad itch has been scratched, tears were shed and I’m opening TikTok in anticipation of edits.

Sometimes I have to act like a cog in a machine so my GPA doesn’t go down, but it’s important not to get stuck in those soul-sucking routines. Okay, a couple of days per week you have to “lock in,” but balance that with moments where you can back off and enjoy being a human.
Ask Abby (Or Analise): Stop calling the bare minimum ‘princess treatment’

Ask Abby (Or Analise): Stop calling the bare minimum ‘princess treatment’

By Analise Bruno, Senior Columnist September 16, 2025
One of the best pieces of dating advice I’ve ever received? The right person will never make you feel like you’re begging. If someone is making you feel needy for asking for communication, consistency or care, that’s not a “you” problem. That’s a mismatch in values.
Study like an icon

Study like an icon

And we’re not going to act like exams and assignments are fun either. What you can do, though, is make all the “fluff” around even the most boring classes more enjoyable. One of my favorite tricks? Create an alter ego: step into a persona who studies the way you wish you did. So this fall, I suggest we steal some moves from our favorite study icons from movies and TV.

New trends, no new clothes: A vintage-lover’s guide to fall trends | It’s All Been Done Before

By Erica Schwartz, Lifestyle Editor September 11, 2025
If you don’t feel called to hop on trends, that’s okay. If you do feel an urge to hop on the new wave, that’s nothing to be ashamed about as long as you participate mindfully. By focusing on sourcing from vintage or at least shopping secondhand, you are getting the best of both worlds. You get to take part in the fun and social aspect of a trend without adding to the environmental burden overconsumption has on our planet.

Ask Abby (Or Analise): Your guide to being a lover and fighter

By Analise Bruno, Senior Writer September 8, 2025
Let me be clear — this isn’t a green light to become combative, aggressive or cruel. There’s a difference between healthy confrontation and chaos, emotional maturity and unchecked rage. What I’m talking about is the kind of honest and vulnerable conflict that actually builds relationships rather than breaks them.
Let's bring back unseriousness

Let’s bring back unseriousness

By Obioma Eke, Contributing Writer September 7, 2025
If the Google Calendar-time-blocking lifestyle isn’t quite working for you, that means you’re a human who craves some silliness, and that’s normal. Embrace your imagination and look for ridiculousness wherever you can — I think that’s the way to a whimsical life.
By chance, by choice: Giorgio Armani leaves behind a legacy

By chance, by choice: Giorgio Armani leaves behind a legacy

By Nino Machavariani, Lifestyle Associate Editor September 4, 2025
Indeed, when put in the flow of his calling, Armani quickly planted the seeds for his eventual success. The late designer had what we would call a “well-lived” life, going from growing up in poverty and war to being admired by many for his sharp eye and designs. Yet the value of this journey was not only the monetary reward. Armani’s story serves as an example that when we follow what comes easily to the mind and is rewarding to the heart, we will eventually end up on the path meant for us.

You don’t need a big 10 football team to have a big college experience | Maia’s Inner Monologue

By Maia Penzer, Senior Writer September 4, 2025
Now, as I begin my final year, I can say with confidence: You don’t need tailgates or a packed football stadium to have a full college experience. You just need to be open to a different version of one.
‘Caught Stealing,’ stop trying to make Aronofsky commercial

‘Caught Stealing,’ stop trying to make Aronofsky commercial

By Rachel Bernstein, Contributing Writer September 4, 2025
Ultimately, “Caught Stealing” is violent, cynical, funny and authentically New York, but constantly undermined by its need to play it commercial. Aronofsky is too talented to waste time on gimmicky blockbusters. The film is at its best when it leans into grit and pure punk chaos.

Ask Abby (Or Analise): Love don’t come easy, you just have to wait

By Analise Bruno, Senior Writer September 3, 2025
While the thrill of a crush and new connections can be intoxicating, the best outcomes come to those who stay grounded and let relationships evolve naturally. Think of it like apple picking. If you pick the apple too early, it’s sour and disappointing. Wait until it’s ripe, and it will be sweet and rewarding. You may encounter a few rotten apples along the way — that’s part of the journey — but those experiences are lessons, not failures.

Why I’m not scared of getting older…for the most part | Maia’s Inner Monologue

By Maia Penzer, Senior Writer August 29, 2025
I’m still fearful of the unknown. I have a million questions about my future, the path I’ll take and the person I want to become. But at 21, I feel like I have a little more clarity than I did even just a year ago. That’s kind of beautiful. By no means do I have it all figured out, but I know more than I did last year. And that’s all I can ask for.
